AMS Institute

At Amsterdam Institute for Advanced Metropolitan Solutions (AMS Institute), Katjana brought science closer to society. In her role as Press & Content Officer, she combined communication strategy, creative direction, and storytelling to make innovation feel human.

Her work spanned from press and web writing to in-house video production for flagship projects like Roboat and events such as the Scientific Conference at Pakhuis de Zwijger. She also coordinated and edited the institute’s annual reports and developed social media stories that opened AMS Institute’s research to a broader audience.

A dynamic reflection of the institute's work

For four consecutive years, Katjana coordinated AMS Institute’s annual report — a flagship publication showcasing the institute’s research, innovation projects, and societal impact. Acting as both copy editor and creative lead, she collaborated closely with graphic designers, researchers, students, management, and external partners to shape a cohesive narrative that reflected the institute’s multidisciplinary mission.

She translated complex technical content into clear, engaging language, ensuring accessibility for a diverse audience ranging from policymakers to academic partners. Each edition was structured as a story of connection — weaving data visualization, photography, and human -centred storytelling, turning what could have been a static report into a dynamic, visually compelling reflection of AMS Institute’s work toward a sustainable, resilient Amsterdam.
