Coral reefs are among the most biodiverse and valuable ecosystems on our planet. Due to global and local factors like rising sea temperatures and overfishing, scientists estimate that by 2050, only 10% of reefs around the world will survive.
In Ecuador, Conmar works to restore coral ecosystems that have been lost in coastal areas. This organization grows resilient coral species that can adapt to and survive future stressors. For Corona Ecuador, we captured footage of the installation process of new coral nurseries.
Together with Dana Bjarner, Katjana created a short video highlighting the hands-on coral planting process and the local communities involved.
